If we say that it is the Chinese light industry development which has promoted Chinese export trade, and it is the light industry that enables “Made In China” to occupy the overseas market, then the development of Chinese engineering machinery industry (ore beneficiation) represents these achievements of economy transformation and industrial upgrade, and is basically on behalf of the level as well as standard of “Made In China”.

Tracing the development history of Chinese engineering industry, during such a long period in the middle of 1990, Putzmeister and another German brand representing the import products had absolute say in Chinese concrete machinery market. However, after twenty years the setup would be completely subverted. 

From 2008 to 2011, there has been the trade surplus in Chinese engineering machinery for a continuous fourth year. But before 2004, it has been trade deficit. The trade surplus increases year by year since 2005. The export sum is 6.004 billion dollars in 2005, among which the engineering machinery import is 3.064 billion dollars, the export is 2.940 billion dollars. Therefore, the year of 2005 is regarded as a most creative year for Chinese engineering industry. 

Only six years later, according to the statistics from General Administration of Customs, the export volume in 2011 had soared up to 24.955 billion dollars, among which the import sum is 9.045 billion dollars, the export sum is 15.909 billion dollars and the trade surplus is 6.864 billion dollars. 

A person in charge from the Machinery Industry Federation indicates that, “ the main factor contributing to the trade surplus lies in the increasing popularity of Chinese engineering machinery and the international market share. Meanwhile, at the time of an unsteady economy, China enterprises capitalize on the favorable demanding situation of most developing countries, they take full advantage of the high cost performance feature to occupy a perfect market place in developing countries, which reflects a high-speed growth situation in the export to some developing countries.” 

In terms of the overseas expansion of Chinese engineering machinery industry, American Business Weekly has made a statement like this, “Although Chinese new manufacturers have not yet competed in the developed market, and they have already challenged some old-brand equipment manufacturers. They are going to surpass Japan and Germany to become the world second largest exporter after America.”
